Dr. Elizabeth (Lizzy) Andrews
she/her
Dr. Elizabeth (Lizzy) Andrews is a locum physician at the Burnaby Maternity Clinic. She completed her medical degree on the east coast at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She then completed Family Medicine residency training at the University of British Columbia and supplementary training in low risk obstetrics at the University of Toronto. Lizzy also works in various rural communities across BC.
Dr. Joel Bluman
he/him
After completing his medical degree at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Bluman's passion for travel and small town medicine led him to spend three years providing full service family medicine in northern BC and then in rural Ontario. He has since returned to his hometown and is now a proud member of the Burnaby Maternity Clinic. Dr. Bluman has always loved the broad scope of family practice, but the privilege to help families bring new life into this world is his career passion and greatest source of joy. He is truly honoured to be a part of each patient's pregnancy, labour, and postpartum journey, and looks forward to meeting you and your family. When not catching babies, Dr. Bluman continues to enjoy providing full scope care including as a hospitalist at Burnaby Hospital, as a family medicine locum, and as an urgent care provider. When he manages to escape the hospital, you can find him smiling beside his lovely wife, energetic son, and cuddly dog.
Dr. Marco Lau
he/him
Dr. Lau completed his medical degree at the University of British Columbia. He then completed his residency in family medicine and training in primary care obstetrics in Toronto. He returned to the Lower Mainland to practice as a family physician and joined the Burnaby Maternity Clinic in 2017. Dr. Lau's focus is in maternity care and supporting patients and families through their pregnancy journey.
Dr. Carolyn Lee

Dr. Carolyn Lee is a locum physician at the Burnaby Maternity Clinic. Dr. Lee graduated from UBC medical school and did her family medicine training at the University of Calgary. She enjoys being able to look after maternity patients throughout their pregnancy. She finds joy in being able to be a part of bringing little ones into the world.
Dr. Charlene Lui
she/her
Dr. Lui is a Burnaby Family Physician with a special interest in maternity and newborn care. She is passionate about health care leadership and Quality Improvement and sits on many committees at the local, regional and provincial levels that focus on improving the health care experience and quality for both patients and providers. She is also a clinical instructor for the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Marvin Lemke

Dr. Lemke has been in practice in Burnaby since 1992 after completing his family medicine training at the University of Alberta and University of Ottawa. He emphasizes holistic and preventative care. Dr. Lemke has been involved in maternity care for over 25 years including teaching UBC medical students and residents. He is also working to improve the delivery of primary care through the Divisions of Family Practice of Burnaby.
Dr. Sheela Mistry

Dr. Sheela Mistry MBBS MD CCFP LMCC was born and raised in Mumbai, India. She is a graduate of Seth G. S. Medical College (King Edward Memorial Hospital), Mumbai. She received postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology during her residency at Grant Medical College (Sir J.J. group of Hospitals), Mumbai. She also underwent a fellowship in laparoscopic gynecological surgery and ART at NILES, Mumbai. After gaining 11 year os experience as an obstetrician and gynecologist in Mumbai, india and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, she immigrated to Canada in 2006. After completing her family medicine residency at the University of British Columbia in 2012, she went to Cranbrook, BC to finish her 2-year return of service. Dr. Mistry has been part of the Burnaby Maternity Clinic and Surgical Assist Group at Burnaby General Hospital since 2014.
Dr. Karimé Mitha

Dr. Karimé Mitha has been a family physician for more than 30 years. After completing her medical degree at the University of British Columbia, she wrapped up her training with an internship at the University of Ottawa. She then returned to the Lower Mainland in 1991 to begin her practice in Burnaby. Dr. Mitha's practice has a special focus on women's health and maternity care; she has been with the maternity clinic since it’s inception in 2007. Between 2009 and 2012, she served as the co-chair of the Department of Obstetrics at Burnaby Hospital. Dr. Mitha was also a founding member of the Burnaby Division of Family Practice in 2011, where she served as a Board Member and then Vice-Chair until 2018. Since 2018, Dr. Mitha has been the Local Department Head of Family Practice at Burnaby Hospital. Dr. Mitha has a passion for teaching, and is a clinical instructor for UBC undergraduate medical students. In her spare time, she can be found hiking or running the numerous trails of the North Shore mountains.
Dr. David Mongar

Dr. Mongar graduated from UBC Medical School in 2016 and from UBC Family Medicine residency in 2018. He loves practising family medicine across the entire lifespan, but there is nothing that compares to seeing families transformed through the miracle of childbirth. Any time, day or night, he is so excited to welcome new babies to this world! His other work focuses on mental health and addictions in the Downtown East Side, where he practises as the family doctor for the Portland Hotel. It should be mentioned, he also has a passion for languages, and looks forward to learning more phrases throughout his time with patients from all over the world, something he's very happy to be able to do regularly at Burnaby Hospital. He looks forward to meeting you and your growing family!
Dr. Sophia Park

Dr. Park graduated from UBC Medical School in 2019 and from the UBC Family Medicine Residency in 2021. Seeing new parents celebrate the moment they embrace their new baby is what drives her to happily forego sleep or food. When she is not working in the birthing suite, she works as a Hospitalist physician in Burnaby, caring for hospitalized patients and their families through their sickness and injuries. Her other passions include travelling to new places, writing love stories, petting and feeding dogs and trying weird and wonderful food. She is conversational in English and Korean. She looks forward to meeting your family.
Dr. Shelley Ross
she/her
Dr. Shelley Ross graduated from the University of Alberta with her medical degree and did her family practice residency through the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ross is a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She was in full-service family practice with a large obstetrics component throughout her career until closing her 36-year practice in 2012 to become President of the Doctors of BC. Since 2013, she has worked at the Burnaby Maternity Clinic, continuing to provide maternity services to patients who wish to deliver at Burnaby Hospital.
Dr. Ashley Smith
she/her
Dr. Smith graduated from UBC Medicine in 2015 and completed her family medicine residency in 2017 through St Paul’s Hospital. She went back for fellowship training in Addiction Medicine in 2019-2020 through the BC Centre of Substance Use. Dr. Smith holds privileges at Burnaby Hospital for family medicine obstetrics, Vancouver General for addiction medicine care as well as The Heartwood Treatment Centre for Women where she is the lead for the care of those with perinatal substance use disorder. Her passions include womens’ health, equitable access to health care and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. She is currently returning to school for a masters in Healthcare Quality but when she has free time she enjoys running, rowing, swimming and cycling. She has two feline fur babies: Archie and Terry.
