Meet the Team

Dr. Marco Lau
Dr. Lau grew up in Vancouver, BC and completed his medical degree at UBC. He completed his residency training in family medicine and additional training in low-risk obstetrics at the University of Toronto. He practices full-service family medicine and obstetrics. He is conversational in Cantonese and Mandarin.

Dr. Marvin Lemke
Dr. Lemke has been been in practice in Burnaby since 1992 after completing his family medicine training at the University of Alberta and University of Ottawa. He emphasizes holistic and preventative care. Dr. Lemke has been involved in maternity care for over 25 years including teaching UBC medical students and residents. He is also working to improve the delivery of primary care through the Divisions of Family Practice of Burnaby.

Dr. Charlene Lui
Dr. Lui has been a Burnaby family physician since becoming a doctor in 1996. She focuses on maternity and newborn care. Dr. Lui is the Board Chair of the Burnaby Division of Family Practice and has held several leadership roles including three years as Department Head for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Burnaby Hospital and 19 years as a clinical instructor for both the UBC Undergraduate Medical and Residency Programs. Dr. Lui's approach to care is to get to know her patients holistically, as she believes understanding personal situations and lifestyles is important in optimizing health care.

Dr. Sheela Mistry
Dr. Sheela Mistry MBBS;MD;CCFP;LMCC was born and raised in Mumbai, India. She is a graduate of Seth G. S. Medical College (King Edward Memorial Hospital), Mumbai. She received postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology during her residency at Grant Medical College (Sir J.J. group od Hospitals), Mumbai. She also underwent a fellowship in laparoscopic gynecological surgery and ART at NILES, Mumbai.
After gaining 11 years of experience as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Mumbai, India and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, she immigrated to Canada in 2006. After completing her Family Medicine Residency at the University of British Columbia in 2012, she went to Cranbrook, BC to finish her 2-year of return of service.
Dr. Mistry has been part of the Burnaby Maternity Clinic and Surgical Assist Group at Burnaby General Hospital since 2014.

Dr. Karimé Mitha
Dr. Mitha has been a family physician for more than 20 years. After completing her medical degree at the University of British Columbia, she did her internship at the University of Ottawa before returning to the Lower Mainland in 1991. Dr. Mitha's practice has a special focus on women's health and maternity care. Between 2009 and 2012, she served as the co-chair of the Department of Obstetrics at Burnaby Hospital. She has also been a clinical instructor for the UBC undergraduate medical students since 2005.

Dr. Shelley Ross
Dr. Shelley Ross graduated from the University of Alberta with her medical degree and did her family practice residency through UBC. Shelley is a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She was in full-service family practice with a large obstetrics component throughout her career until closing her 36-year practice in 2012 to become President of the Doctors of BC.
Since 2013, Shelley has been Co-chair of the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC). She also chairs the GPSC Maternity working group and co-chairs the GPSC provincial recruitment and retention steering committee and is a member of the Shared Care Committee. She currently sits on the board of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) as a representative from BC, is the Secretary General to the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA), and chairs the CMA Governance Committee. Shelley has been President of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada and the Medical Women’s International Association.
Shelley does locums in full-service family practice and continues to practice obstetrics through maternity clinics and hospitals throughout the Fraser Health Authority."
